Tea Poached Plums

I don’t know that I would have ever sought out this recipe or tried it.  However, Bon Appetit did an article about recipes on their website that they wished people would try because they’re so good but everyone overlooks them.  This was one of them.  I’m such a pushover, I felt sorry for these little recipes, so I decided I should try a few of them.  I’m glad I did.  This recipe was easy and versatile.  The plums were wonderful by themselves, but would also be lovely on a pound cake or with ice cream.  I also saved the poaching liquid and used it as a sauce on an angel food cake.  Bon Appetit All Access + Free Canvas Tote and Six Digital CookbooksIngredients1 1/2 lbs plums (pick your favorite kind)3/4 cup sugar 3 bags strong black tea6 whole cardamon pods, lightly crushed1 whole star anise1 vanilla bean pod, halved lengthwiseAlternatively, instead of the tea and spices, you can use 2 tablespoons of Rishi loose leaf Masala Chai tea.  Also, if you don’t have a vanilla bean pod, a tsp of vanilla works fine.Directions1.
