SC woman tries to crash car to stop assault, deputies say

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WNCN) — A Greer man is accused of dragging his girlfriend with a vehicle and beating her before she convinced him to take her to a hospital.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office charged Micah Rodney Spires, 35, with kidnapping and first-degree domestic violence.
A witness told a sheriff’s deputy that he was almost hit head-on by a Ford Mustang on Highway 295 and Highway 101 around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
The witness said the driver of the Mustang was hitting a woman in the car as she tried to get out and partially dragged her as it drove away.
About three hours later, a 911 dispatcher received information about a woman at a hospital and believed she was the same victim from the Ford Mustang.
