Motorcyclist dies in crash on US 401/Louisburg Road in Wake County

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A motorcyclist died in a crash Wednesday night on US 401/Louisburg Road in Wake County, just south of Rolesville.

The NC DOT earlier said that 3 of 4 northbound lanes are closed on US 401. However, a CBS North Carolina photographer on the scene said that US 401 northbound is closed.
A motorcycle and a vehicle collided during the wreck and the male motorcyclist died at the scene, according officials.
The motorcycle was in the middle of the intersection after the crash.
The NC DOT issued these detour instructions for motorists: Turn right onto Mitchell Mill Road. Follow Mitchell Mill Road to Louisbury Road and Turn left. Follow Louisbury Road back to US-401/Louisburg Road North.
