Moogfest has multi-million dollar impact on Durham’s economy
DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Moogfest organizers calling the festival’s first year in Durham a success.
The Durham Convention and Visitors Bureau projected the music and tech fest would have almost a $7 million economic impact.
Although officials numbers are not in yet, organizers say businesses saw record sales and constant activity throughout the weekend.
More than 7,000 tickets were sold each day for festival events. The director says Moogfest has already sold nearly 1,200 tickets for next year.
“Because we’ve sold tickets so far without announcing anything, it really is proof and shows us that folks have really brought into the concept and that they are really excited and interested to come back for more without even knowing exactly what it is that we are going to be doing,” said Marisa Brickman, the festival director.
Organizers say people from around the world were in Durham over the weekend for the festival.
