Man dead following altercation, shooting outside Fayetteville home

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville police are investigating after a man was shot outside a home following an altercation Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 6500 block of Carswell Drive in the Fairfield Farms subdivision in north Fayetteville Sunday morning.
A preliminary investigation shows that some sort of altercation occurred at the home and a man was then shot near the entrance to the home, police said. The victim was transported to Cape Fear valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have taken a person into custody who was known to the victim in connection with the shooting.
The shooting is still under investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available.
The identity of the victim is being withheld until his immediate family has been notified.
