Kentucky sheriff’s deputy accidentally discharges gun, shoots stepdaughter

HICKORY, Ky. (WKRN) – A 17-year-old girl was shot in what Kentucky State Police are calling an apparent accidental shooting.
According to authorities, Sgt. David Warner with the Graves County Sheriff’s Office was returning home at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday from an overtime shift.
The KSP reports as he was unloading an off-duty firearm, he accidentally discharged one round.
The bullet hit his 17-year-old stepdaughter, who sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah for treatment.
Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon requested the Kentucky State Police handle the investigation due to it involving a member of his department.
The investigation is ongoing. Further details weren’t immediately released.
