Hundreds of paratroopers jump to culminate Fort Bragg’s All American Week

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (WNCN) – The culmination Fort Bragg’s All American Week took place Thursday.
Hundreds gathered at Sicily Drop Zone to see the incredible work displayed by paratroopers.
Thursday’s finale brought together military families of various generations.
“It’s just wonderful to be back and around fellow paratroopers, people that understand your point of view, know what it’s like to jump out the door. It’s great,” said veteran George Hughes.
The program included jumps by the Golden Knights and demonstrations to showcase the 82nd Airborne’s tactical capabilities.
The main event was 1,300 paratroopers jumping from 15 C-17 and five C-130 planes in the skies over Cumberland County.
The paratroopers were up and in the hanger early as 3 a.m. to prepare for their jumps.
The “pack,” which includes a soldier’s gear and parachute, can weight around 100 pounds.
