Fayetteville woman dies in I-95 traffic accident
SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WNCN) – A 63-year-old Fayetteville woman died Thursday when her vehicle went off Interstate 95 near Smithfield and plowed into a tree.
Officials said Wilma Jean Lewis was driving on I-95 north around 4:30 when she ran off the road.
Witnesses told authorities a white vehicle, possibly a 2013 or 2014 model Nissan with Florida tags, was traveling at a high rate of speed and changing lanes.
Lewis swerved to avoid the car and left the roadway.
No other information was released.
