Family, community heartbroken after NC teen brothers killed, person of interest sought

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Authorities are still looking for a person of interest in a double homicide that left two teen brothers dead in Onslow County.
CLICK TO VIEW 10 PHOTOS OF THE BROTHERS AND THE PERSON OF INTERESTBrothers 19-year-old Deandre Gilbert and 16-year-old Tyler Gilbert were found dead near each other in Onslow County on Wednesday after being missing since Sunday, May 15.
Tyler was a student at OCLC – Onslow County Learning Center. Because of Tyler’s death, the OCLC Classroom Without Walls was cancelled Friday, according to Onslow County Schools.
Sheriff Hans Miller and Chief Investigator Major Chris Thomas named Steven McCarty as a person of interest in the case of the deaths of two brothers and asked him to come forward.
McCarty, 23, is an African-American male from the Jacksonville area. He is described as approximately 6-feet-tall, 155 pounds with short-cut hair, black hair and brown eyes.
