Ellen gives Raleigh teacher who saved dog a whopping gift
LOS ANGELES – A Raleigh teacher and her fiancée got a major surprise from Ellen DeGeneres after their efforts to save their sick dog.
Jennifer Marion, who teaches the second grade at Root Elementary in Raleigh, and Jim Raschella will appear on “Ellen” Tuesday at 4 p.m. on CBS North Carolina. The show was taped Monday in Los Angeles.

Last year, Marion rescued a dog named Pearl who later struggled with a pancreatic illness. Pearl was healed by N.C. State veterinarians but the cost was nearly $16,000.
“We decided as long as she was not in pain we would continue to fight,” Raschella told DeGeneres.
“Our dogs are our babies,” Marion said. “It was never a big decision.”
