Durham County Library’s Bragtown Library Family Literacy Center Temporarily Closed for Maintenance

Durham, NC – During January’s snow event, Durham County Library unfortunately experienced what many others have in similar circumstances: some water pipes burst at the Bragtown Library Family Literacy Center, causing damage to the building and items inside it. At this time, the Durham County General Services and Engineering departments are working hard to determine next steps so that the repair process can begin.

The library apologizes for any inconvenience this temporary closing may cause. While the timeline for repair and reopening is uncertain at this time, the library wishes to inform its patrons and the Durham community as a whole that it does intend to get the Bragtown location back up and running again. In the meantime, Durham County Library is looking into ways that it can provide outreach services to the Bragtown community while the building is closed, including the services of the library’s Bookmobile.

Please note that while the Bragtown location is closed, its book drop will remain open; materials borrowed from Durham County Library may be returned to this book drop at any time, as the book drop will continue to be cleared by library staff on a daily basis. Updates related to the Bragtown Library Family Literacy Center, including dates and times for Bookmobile stops at that location, can be found online at https://durhamcountylibrary.org/location/bragtown/.
