Dry Saturday, wet Sunday
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) —Temperatures will be above normal, this last weekend of January; but there will be a lot of clouds around as our next weather maker moves through on Sunday. Friday was above normal with a lot of sunshine. Some high clouds rolled in late in the day and Friday night will be partly cloudy but dry.
On Friday, the Triangle had a high of 57, after a morning low of 25. Fayetteville had a high of 58, after a morning low of 26. The normal high this time of year is 52 with a normal low of 31.
Lows won’t be as cold early Saturday morning. Lows will stay in the 30s. Saturday will have increasing clouds as it becomes cloudy during the afternoon. Highs will reach the upper 50s to around 60. Saturday night could have a few showers around out ahead of a cold front that will move through on Sunday. Sunday should be cloudy and damp with showers likely throughout the day. Highs will make it into the lower 60s on Sunday. Rainfall amounts on Sunday will average over one half of an inch with some areas receiving up to an inch. Any rain will be welcomed, since a large part of central North Carolina remains in a moderate drought. The cold front will push to the coast on Monday morning and showers will be possible early in the day. Skies will become partly sunny for the rest of Monday.
A secondary cold front will quickly move through the state from the northwest early Tuesday. There won’t be much moisture with the front over North Carolina; however any limited moisture that gets squeezed out would be in the form of a few flurries or a sprinkle. Otherwise, skies will become partly sunny on Tuesday and it will be colder with highs just in the lower 40s.
Sunshine is expected next Wednesday and Thursday with moderating temperatures. Another storm system will
approach the area on Friday and rain showers will be possible.
Rest of Tonight will be fair. The overnight low will be 34. Winds will be light and variable.
Saturday will become mostly cloudy. The high will be 59; winds will be south-southeast 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday Night will be cloudy and breezy with a few showers possible. The overnight low will be 50. Winds will be south 3 to 5 mph. The rain risk will be 40 percent.
Sunday will be cloudy with showers likely. The high will be 61; winds will be south-southeast around 5 mph. The rain risk will be 90 percent.
Monday could have a few early showers; otherwise it will become partly sunny. The high will be 54; after a morning low of 43. The rain risk will be 30 percent.
Tuesday will be partly sunny and colder with a couple flurries possible early. The high will be 41; after a morning low of 29. The precipitation risk will be 20 percent.
Wednesday will be sunny. The high will be 47; after a morning low of 22.
Thursday will be partly sunny and milder. The high will be 58; after a morning low of 30.
Next Friday, on Ground Hog Day, it will be mainly cloudy with a risk showers. The high will be 58; after a morning low of 40. The rain risk will be 50 percent.
